BC women fall in NCAA semis

MINNEAPOLIS — Sarah Davis scored 1:39 into overtime and Minnesota beat Boston College 3-2 Friday in the semifinals of the NCAA Women’s Frozen Four.

Corinne Broyles stopped a slapshot by Bethany Brausen, but Davis picked up the rebound, skated left and lifted a shot behind the sprawling netminder to give Minnesota its 48th straight win.

Hannah Brandt and Becky Kortum scored third-period goals for the Gophers (40-0-0), the defending national champion. Noora Raty finished with 26 saves.

Minnesota will face either Boston University or Mercyhurst in Sunday afternoon’s final.

Emily Field and Lexi Bender scored for the Eagles (27-7-3).

Field scored on the power play late in the second period for Boston College, and Brandt countered early in the third with a power-play goal for the Gophers. Kortum and Bender scored two minutes apart late in the period.
