Why are strikeouts on the rise in MLB?

While the save is the statistic that closers are often measured by, Mariano Rivera’s career shows how misleading that can be. Baseball’s all-time saves leader as he begins his 17th and final season as the Yankees closer, Rivera has led the majors in saves only three times and has finished out of the top 10 six times, including last year’s injury-shortened season.
