PORTLAND, Ore. — The Revolution earned a point for the third time in four matches, playing to a scoreless draw with the Portland Timbers Thursday night.

New England is 2-3-3 but winless on the road. The Timbers stand at 3-1-5 having extended their unbeaten streak to seven games. It’s Portland’s longest such streak since joining Major League Soccer in 2011.

The Revolution defeated the Philadelphia Union, 2-0, last Saturday, snapping a five-match unbeaten streak. But Thursday marked the fifth time in eight matches this season they failed to score.

Portland’s Darlington Nagbe missed an opportunity in the 15th minute when he got a second chance on a shot that deflected off Shuttleworth but couldn’t finish.

Ryan Guy’s attempt in the 42d minute for the Revolution caromed off the fingertips of Ricketts and sailed just over the net.

Portland forward Ryan Johnson’s strike from inside the box in the 53d minute was bobbled slightly by Shuttleworth, but he dived on it just as Johnson was coming in for a second chance.
