Games of the week

No. 3 Needham at Norwood, Mon., 4 p.m. – Needham remains atop the Bay State Conference, undefeated at 13-0 after delivering a 3-1 victory over Norwood April 24 at home. Norwood has won six matches since.

No. 9 Chelmsford at No. 8 St. John’s Prep, Tue., 7 p.m. – Chelmsford ended the Eagles’ undefeated run short with a 3-2 victory at home on April 19. Senior outside hitter Sean Sarault and sophomore middle hitter Matt Kuda combined for 26 kills. The Eagles have taken down state champion Cambridge, meaning the decision could go either way this time.

No. 5 Newton South at No. 6 Cambridge, Wed, 4 p.m. – This Dual County League matchup features a Lions (11-1, 17-1) team that avenged its only loss of the season to Westford and handed defending state champion Cambridge its third loss. Cambridge has hit a few roadblocks after rotation changes but should close out the season strong with this being their most challenging matchup.

No. 3 Needham at No. 4 Newton North, Wed., 4 p.m. – Needham (13-0) is the strongest squad in the Bay State Conference. The Tigers fell to Needham, 3-1, April 22 with Sam Tillotson’s 20 kills.

No. 4 Newton North at No. 2 Milford, Sun., 1 p.m. – Aside from their hiccup to Lawrence April 25, 3-1, Milford has delivered eight straight-set victories this season. Newton North is faced with a powerhouse attack behind Michael Soares, Kane Wittorff, and Michael Antonellis, who are all hitting above .400, along with sensational setter Tim MacMannis (470 assists). Newton North has struggled against the Bay State Conference’s best – Needham and Norwood – making them the underdogs in this matchup.
