Patriots tweak Julian Edelman’s contract

NFL records show that the Patriots and receiver Julian Edelman have agreed to restructure the contract Edelman signed a little more than six weeks ago.

After getting little interest on the free agent market, Edelman returned to New England on a one-year deal with a maximum value of $1.015 million. His base salary is $715,000, though there is a split-salary clause in the deal: Since Edelman has an injury history, if he is placed on injured reserve in 2013, he would receive a salary of $383,000.
