Nerlens Noel, a native of Everett, is projected by many to be the top pick in this month’s NBA draft. He wouldn’t be the first homegrown talent to make the league, and he certainly isn’t the first to make an impact on the local scene. Here is a look at some of his forerunners:

Dana Barros - Boston , Xaverian , BC , Celtics - Averaged over 40 points his senior year with Xaverian and starred at BC, but most well-known as a sharpshooting one-time NBA All-Star.

Terry Driscoll - Winthrop , BC High, BC - MVP of 1969 NIT tournament for BC, where he played for Bob Cousy. School’s all-time leading rebounder.

Jack Foley - Worcester , Assumption, Holy Cross, Celtics - ‘The Shot’ earned his nickname, averaging 41.8 points per game his senior year of high school and a school-record 33.3 his senior year of college.
