Slumping Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira could be sidelined a while longer because of his ailing right wrist. ‘‘I haven’t done anything, but I’m leaning toward the disabled list,’’ Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. Teixeira missed the first 53 games of the season because of a wrist injury. The All-Star slugger is hitting just .151 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 53 at-bats . . . The Tigers placed righthander Anibal Sanchez (right shoulder) and catcher Alex Avila (bruised left forearm) on the 15-day DL. Detroit plans to call up lefthander Jose Alvarez from Triple A Toledo to start in place of Sanchez on Thursday in a series opener against the Red Sox . . . Giants righthander Ryan Vogelsong will have his surgically repaired pitching hand re-examined Tuesday with the hope of taking another step in his recovery. Vogelsong broke two bones in his right pinkie area and also dislocated a knuckle on a swing May 20 and underwent surgery the next day . . . Indians first baseman Nick Swisher will miss the next few games because of a sore left shoulder. Manager Terry Francona said Swisher received a cortisone shot after an MRI revealed no structural damage. He recently went through an 0-for-27 slump and has just five hits in his last 47 at-bats.
