Meet the standout performers who earned All-Scholastic honors for their work this season.

Players of the Year

Shannon Smith

Division 1: Milford

Smith leaves with the state’s all-time career strikeout record (1,219) and had a 0.04 ERA this season. The Kentucky-bound hurler guided the Scarlet Hawks to back-to-back state championships. She leaves Milford with an 86-4 mark and three-time Gatorade Player of the Year.

Kelly McCarthy

Division 2: Burlington

McCarthy finished 13-3 and helped the Red Devils capture the Middlesex Freedom League and Division 2 North titles. She struck out 131 and sported a 1.30 ERA in 102.1 innings. A member of the Diamond Gems, McCarthy will play softball for Bridgewater State.

Josie Sanchez

Division 3: Whittier

The two-time Commonwealth Athletic Conference MVP, Sanchez finished her senior season with a .500 batting average. Her offensive prowess propelled the Wildcats to the Division 3 North final. Sanchez also plays volleyball and basketball and will play softball for Merrimack College.

All-Scholastics

Tori Constantin

King Philip, senior

The second baseman finished her senior season with an impressive .994 fielding percentage and a .300 batting average. A two-time Hockomock All-Star, Constantin leaves King Philip with two state championships. She will play softball for Central Connecticut State University.

Sarah Dawson

Bridgewater-Raynham, sophomore

Dawson pitched the Trojans to an undefeated regular season and a 23-1 record. The 6-foot-2-inch sophomore hurler threw a perfect game and compiled a 0.81 ERA with 198 strikeouts in 155 innings. She also plays for the Mass Drifters.

Mary DeMoura

Boston Latin, senior

Co-MVP of the Dual County League, DeMoura finished the season batting .610. In her four years playing for the Wolfpack she struck out only three times. A member of the National Honor society, DeMoura will play softball for Wheaton College.

Sarah Dupere

Governor’s Academy, junior

The Governors’ junior hurler helped her team win a third straight ISL title. Dupere went 6-0 with a 0.69 ERA as the Governors completed the first undefeated season in school history. She will bring a 27-2 career record into her senior season.

Caroline Fairbanks

Milford, senior

The power hitter batted .488 with a .793 slugging percentage her senior season, while adding 6 homers and 32 RBIs. Her offensive dominance helped the Scarlet Hawks to back-to-back state titles. She will attend Wheaton College to play softball and study sports medicine.

Lexi Harvey

Natick, junior

The Bay State League MVP hit .603 with a .652 on-base percentage this season. Harvey’s career batting average is .553. The junior outfielder, who plays for the Polar Crush Gold softball club, also plays field hockey and ice hockey at Natick.

Amolee Hawkins

Newton Country Day, sophomore

Just a sophomore, Hawkins was voted team and EIL MVP while compiling a compiled an 8-1 record this season. She threw two no-hitters and struck out 114 batters in 59 innings. At the plate, she batted .651 and finished with 11 stolen bases.

Galen Kerr

Concord-Carlisle, senior

Kerr pitched the Patriots to a 17-1 mark and the Dual County Small title. She threw a no-hitter and a perfect game this year and sported a 0.84 ERA with 193 strikeouts in 138.2 innings. She will attend Wheaton in the fall.

Nicole Lundstrom

Dighton-Rehoboth, senior

Making her third All-Scholastic appearance, the senior catcher batted an impressive .656 with a .747 on-base percentage. Lundstrom hit 9 home runs, 11 doubles, and 3 triples, while knocking in 35 runs for a 1.344 slugging percentage. She will play softball for Syracuse next year.

Kayla Maloney

Phillips Andover, senior

Maloney is back on these pages after leading her team to its first ever undefeated season. Maloney went 9-0 and struck out 109 batters in 62 innings. She finishes her career at 33-4. She holds the school record for careeer strikeouts (425). She’ll attend Columbia.

Leslie Moore

Central Catholic, senior

The six-foot tall first baseman helped the Raiders to a 20-5 mark and the Division 1 North crown. She batted .450 with 25 RBIs in the regular season. An honor roll student, Moore will study entrepreneurship and play for Babson College.

Caroline Ognibene

Winsor, junior

Ognibene recorded a 10-1 Eastern Independent League record, striking out 78 batters in 71 innings of work. This year marked her second season as team captain and she also served as junior class co-president. She also plays soccer and basketball.

Lauren Ramirez

Dracut, senior

The two-time Merrimack Velley Conference MVP finished 16-6 with a 0.61 ERA and 195 strikeouts in 138 innings. Ramirez finished her career with a 1.37 ERA and 629 strikeouts. A member of the National Honor Society, Ramirez will play softball for UMass-Lowell.

Haylee Rogers

Abington, senior

A three-time South Shore League All-Star, Rogers finished the season with a .567 average and 34 RBIs. She finished her career batting .500 with 3 homers and 83 RBIs. Rogers was also a member of the National Honor society and the class president.

Madi Shaw

Bridgewater-Raynham, junior

The junior shortstop finished with a .620 batting average, 5 home runs, 12 doubles, 23 RBIs, and 26 stolen bases. Her offensive power and defensive skills helped propel the Trojans to an undefeated regular season and a South semifinal appearance.

Julia Sullivan

Sandwich, senior

The three-time Atlantic Coast League All-Star pitched the Blue Knights to a 20-2 mark, the best in school history and their first undefeated ACL season. Sullivan hurled four no-hitters, struck out 184, and had a 0.60 ERA. She will play for Westfield State.

Emma Whatley

Woodward, senior

Whatley earned a 12-2 record this season, striking out 104 batters en route to a 2.50 ERA. In her four seasons as a starter, Whatley won at least 10 games each season. She will attend St. Edward’s University in Texas in the fall.

Coaches of the Year

Brian Macchi

Division 1: Milford

A Milford graduate, Macchi guided the Scarlet Hawks to a 25-1 mark and their second consecutive state title. In his eight years at Milford, he’s compiled an impressive 167-22 record. He also coaches Milford’s Legion team in the summer.

Dan Sylvia

Division 2: Bishop Stang

Sylvia started volunteering at Bishop Stang in 2003 and became head coach in 2006. The Spartans have qualified for the tournament every year with Sylvia at the helm. Under his direction, Bishop Stang finished 16-9 in 2013 ad won the Division 2 South crown.

Paul Westner

Division 3: Bristol-Plymouth

In his eighth year at the helm, Westner led the Craftsmen to a 19-5 mark and the Division 3 South final. He has a career record of 149-64. ‘‘This team had the most heart of any team I’ve ever coached,’’ said Westner.
