Who has won most Olympic hockey medals in NHL era?

The medals that will be awarded at the Sochi Olympics.

The NHL is sending its players to participate for the fifth straight Olympics.

It might surprise you which country has earned the most medals during the NHL era (since 1998).


All six of these countries are split evenly among the three group pods for the 2014 Sochi Games, with the US and Russia in Group A, Finland and Canada in Group B, and the Czech Republic and Sweden in Group C.

The leaders, since 1998:

Finland: 3 medals (1 silver, 2 bronze)

Canada: 2 medals (2 gold)

Czech Republic: 2 medals (1 gold, 1 bronze)


United States: 2 medals (2 silver)

Russia: 2 medals (1 silver, 1 bronze)

Sweden: 1 medal (gold)
