The Patriots have released offensive lineman Braxston Cave and tight end Matthew Mulligan. Cave had been claimed off waivers Sunday after being released by Cleveland. He was a third-team All-American at Notre Dame.

Mulligan, a Bangor, Maine, native who played at the University of Maine and has spent four years in the NFL (three with the Jets, last season with St. Louis), was signed as a free agent Tuesday. He has 20 starts among his 50 NFL appearances, catching 14 passes for 144 yards and one touchdown.

According to the league’s transaction wire, the Patriots have signed offensive lineman Jordan Devey to the practice squad. He played multiple line positions in college at Memphis
