New England roundup: UNH routs Colgate, 53-23

Andy Vailas and Nico Steriti each accounted for two touchdowns as New Hampshire used a dominant first half to rout Colgate, 53-23, Saturday in Durham, N.H.

UNH (1-1) raced to a 19-0 first-quarter lead behind two touchdown passes from Vailas to Harold Spears. A 50-yard touchdown pass from Sean Goldrich to R.J. Harris gave the Wildcats 26 first-quarter points.

Maine 35, Bryant 22 — Marcus Wasilewski threw for four touchdowns and ran for another and the Black Bears ran their record to 3-0 for the first time since 2002 with a victory over the visiting Bulldogs (2-1).

Wasilewski went 23 of 32 for 263 yards, completing passes to seven receivers.

Holy Cross 52, Central Conn. 21 — Ryan Laughlin had a career-high four TDs (three passing, one rushing) to power the Crusaders (1-2) past the Blue Devils (0-3) in New Britain, Conn.

Rhode Island 19, Albany 13 — Justin Semmes scored on a 1-yard run in overtime before the visiting Rams (1-2, 1-1 Colonial Athletic) turned back the Great Danes (1-2, 0-1) on their OT possession.

Stonehill 52, Saint Anselm 24 — Logan Meyer fired five TD passes and Jamal Johnson rushed for 170 yards and a score as the Skyhawks (1-1) drubbed the Hawks (0-2) in Easton.

MIT 34, Becker 0 — Peter Williams passed for 261 yards and two touchdowns to spark the Engineers past the host Hawks.

Fitchburg State 20, Curry 19 — Garrett Dellechiaie connected with wide receiver Phillip Saint-Juste on a 10-yard scoring pass as time expired to send the Falcons (1-1) past the Colonels (0-2) at Milton.

Bridgewater State 41, William Paterson 24 — Mike McCarthy ran for a pair of touchdowns and passed for another and Blaise Branch rushed for two scores to lead the host Bears (1-1) past the Pioneers (1-1).

Rowan 29, Framingham State 19 — Paul Hamersma hit Todd Guillaume with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown passes to rally the Profs (1-1) past the Rams in Glassboro, N.J.

Plymouth St. 37, Mount Ida 26 — Andrew Foglia rushed for 199 yards on 26 carries and three touchdowns, including a 34-yarder to open the scoring, and the visiting Panthers (1-1) beat the Mustangs (1-1).

Endicott 43, Castleton 7 — Drew Frenette threw for 272 yards and two TDs and Spencer Walsh rushed for 138 yards and another score to propel the visiting Gulls (1-1) past the Spartans (1-1).
