High school football: Week 6 picks by Bob Holmes

This week’s picks from the Globe’s High School editor:

Brookline over Framingham — And a word of warning to Brookline fans. That innocent-looking bake sale at the game . . . Be careful. Be very careful.

Winchester over Arlington — After Richard Philips gives a surprise pregame locker room speech, inspired Sachems hand Arlington its first loss.

Woburn over Belmont — Tanners shouldn’t feel slighted because Globe selected Arlington over Woburn for spot in this week’s Top 20. Decision wasn’t very scientific. We flipped a coin.

Austin Prep over Bishop Fenwick — This assumes the Cougars can slip a couple extra bodies on the field when they’re on defense. Fourteen seems like a reasonable number to bring down Rufus Rushins.

Pingree over Kents Hill — Globe research staff says the last Massachusetts high school team to score 50 or more points three straight weeks was the 1914 Everett team that scored 60, 74, and 54 to open its season.

Waltham over Lincoln-Sudbury — The Hawks have been the definition of average the past six-plus years (31-33 record). A loss would leave them at 2-2 this fall, again average. Here’s a guess this isn’t your average season.

Last week: 3-2. Season: 16-14.
