World Series predictions from Globe writers

Our baseball writers make their picks for who will win the World Series:

Christopher L. Gasper

Winner -- Red Sox in seven. Sox go from three-ring circus in 2012 to World Series rings in 2013.

MVP -- Jacoby Ellsbury. The impending free agent makes his last games in a Red Sox uniform memorable ones and makes himself a lot of money.

Dan Shaughnessy

Winner: Cardinals in Seven. Premier League and Sprint Cup Championships, plus Pulitzer Prizes, will have to do for John Henry.

MVP: Michael Wacha. Just for keeping the games under 3 hours.

Nick Cafardo

Winner: Red Sox in 7. No reason to believe that this isn’t a magic season, start to finish

MVP: David Ortiz. Big Papi will go deep a time or two at the right time.

Peter Abraham

Winner: Red Sox in 6. No sweep this time, but better defense and relief pitching will carry the Sox. Koji high-fives everybody at the parade.

MVP: Jacoby Ellsbury. In his farewell to Boston before striking it rich as a free agent, Ellsbury shows off his speed and power.
