Three Celtics on 2014 All-Star ballot

Celtics players Jeff Green, Rajon Rondo, and Gerald Wallace were among the 120 total NBA players on the 2014 All-Star ballot that the league released Friday.

Entering the Celtics’ game Friday against the Portland Trailblazers, Green, a forward in his sixth season out of Georgetown, was averaging a team-high 17.1 points.

Wallace, a veteran swingman in his 13th NBA season and first with the Celtics, was averaging 5.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists. The 31-year-old Wallace was voted an All-Star once before, in 2010.

And Rondo, a four-time All-Star (from 2010-2013), had yet to play this season as he is still sidelined while recovering from knee surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

There are 60 players from each conference – Eastern and Western – with 36 players from the frontcourt and 24 from the backcourt.

The players were selected by a panel of media who regular cover the NBA: Greg Anthony (NBA Digital), Mary Schmitt Boyer (Cleveland Plain Dealer/PBWA), Zach Lowe (Grantland), and John Reid (New Orleans Times Picayune).

Balloting concludes Jan. 20, and there are several ways for fans to cast their vote until then, including using social media such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

With Instagram, fans can post an original photo with the #NBABallot hashtag that incudes the player’s first name and last name in the caption.

Twitter allows fans to tweet a vote using the player’s first and last name, along with the hashtag #NBABallot.

Facebook allows fans to comment on official league, team or international NBA All-Star Facebook pages by commenting below the post with the player’s first and last name and the hashtag #NBABallot.

With all three social networks, fans can vote for 10 unique players per day until balloting concludes.

Fans can also access the ballot and fill out one per day on the NBA Game Time and NBA Game Time from Sprint applications that are available on Android and iOS mobile devices.

And fans can also vote by texting the player’s last name to 69622 (MYNBA).

The starters for the 63rd annual All-Star Game, which will be held Feb. 16, 2014 in New Orleans, will be announced Jan. 23.
