Viktor Fasth was scheduled to start in goal for the Ducks, but sustained a lower-body injury during the warm-ups.
The Ducks put 42 shots on Ben Bishop, who was magnificent right to the end.
Getzlaf carried the puck into the Tampa Bay zone and took a wrist shot that glanced off the bottom of Bishop’s arm, but defenseman Sami Salo wasn’t able to sweep away the loose puck and it dribbled across the goal line before Bishop could reach back for it.
Canadiens 3, Capitals 2 — David Desharnais scored his long-awaited first goal of the season, and visiting Montreal took an early three-goal lead and survived two goals from Alex Ovechkin.
Travis Moen also scored his first of the season, and Daniel Briere added a goal for the Canadiens, who have won two straight.
Flames 4, Panthers 3 — Sean Monahan scored in the sixth round of the shootout to lift host Calgary.
Joe Colborne had a goal and an assist in regulation, and Sven Baertschi and Blair Jones also scored for Calgary.
Flames goalie Reto Berra stopped 23 shots while playing in his sixth straight game.
Berra stopped Florida forward Nick Bjugstad in the sixth round of the shootout to preserve the victory after Monahan had given Calgary the edge.
Canucks 6, Blue Jackets 2 — Henrik Sedin scored a pair of goals and Daniel Sedin added a goal and two assists as host Vancouver cruised over Columbus.
Zack Kassian, Alexander Edler, and Jeremy Welsh added goals for the Canucks, who snapped a five-game skid.
