School notebook: Super Bowl start times announced

We knew the matchups, now we know the times.

The MIAA released the start times for the six high school Super Bowl games, Sat., Dec. 7, at Gillette Stadium. The day begins at 9 a.m. with the Division 6 game and ends with the Division 5 game at 8.

The complete schedule:

Division 1 — Central Catholic vs. Xaverian, 3:30 p.m.

Division 2 — Mansfield vs. St. John's (S), 1:30 p.m.

Division 3 — Tewksbury vs. Plymouth South, 6 p.m.

Division 4 — Dennis-Yarmouth vs. Doherty, 11 a.m.

Division 5 — Bishop Fenwick vs. Northbridge, 8 p.m.

Division 6 — Cohasset vs Littleton, 9 a.m.

All games will be played with 10-minute quarters. The home teams will be decided by a coin flip at the championship breakfast at Gillette Dec. 4.

BB&N coach John Papas announced his retirement at the team's annual banquet Sunday night. Papas retires after a 6-2 season, his 10th straight winning record at the Cambridge school. His time includes four NEPSAC bowls and three championships. Assistant coach Mike Willey will take over . . . The 26th annual Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire College Football Recruiting Night will be held Tue., Dec. 10, at the Tewksbury Country Club. The event runs from 7-9 p.m. and representatives from area and Eastern colleges will be in attendance. Seniors are invited at no cost. EMass soccer

The Eastern Mass Soccer Coaches Association will hold their annual all-star boys' soccer games Friday at Quincy's Veteran's Memorial Stadium. The three games are named after longtime coaches. The Don Brock game will be held at 9 a.m., followed by the Lennie Emmons game at 11, and the Foster Cass game at 1. Players in each game will be a from a mix of MIAA divisions. The Division 1, 2, 3, and 4 North and South Coaches of the Year, along with the College and North and South referees of the year will also be honored. Admission is free.
