Chris Kunitz scored two goals and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped all 21 shots, leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-0 victory against the Lightning on Friday in Tampa.

Sidney Crosby had assists on all three goals for Pittsburgh, which extended its winning streak in the series to eight games. Pittsburgh halted Tampa Bay’s bid to tie a club record with an eighth consecutive triumph on home ice.

Kunitz opened the scoring seven minutes in, taking a pass from Crosby and lifting it past Lightning goalie Ben Bishop from the left circle. Kunitz sealed the win with an empty-netter with 1:43 remaining.

Brandon Sutter scored the second Pittsburgh goal on a power play midway into the third period. Sutter took his own rebound behind the net and banked it off the skate of Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman on the opposite side.

Tampa Bay had several excellent scoring chances. Richard Panik got loose in front of the Pittsburgh net just before the second intermission, but was rejected by Fleury, who earlier stopped Nikita Kucherov on a partial breakaway.

Sabres 3, Maple Leafs 2 — Christian Ehrhoff scored 38 seconds into overtime and Buffalo snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over Toronto, which has lost six straight road games.

Matt Moulson and Luke Adam also scored for the Sabres, who got 22 saves from Ryan Miller and came from behind twice to force overtime.

Blue Jackets 4, Oilers 2 — Ryan Johansen had a goal and an assist for his third multipoint game this season for Columbus, which won for only the second time in its last eight home games.

Artem Anisimov, Nick Foligno, and Jack Skille also scored for the Blue Jackets, who dominated with an aggressive forecheck to make amends for a 7-0 defeat in Edmonton last week.

Devils 5, Hurricanes 2— Jaromir Jagr had a goal and two assists, and New Jersey scored four goals in the third period against host Carolina.

Jagr’s goal with 3:29 left was the 692d of his career, tying him with Steve Yzerman for eighth on the NHL’s all-time list.

Blackhawks 2, Stars 1 — Ben Smith scored in the 11th round of a wild shootout and Chicago beat host Dallas for its fifth straight victory.

Chicago’s Patrick Sharp and Dallas’s Rich Peverley had the only goals through the first 10 rounds of the tiebreaker. Each of them scored in regulation, too.

Ducks 5, Flames 2 — Dustin Penner had two goals and Saku Koivu had two assists in his return after missing 15 games with an upper-body injury to lead host Anaheim past Calgary.

Sami Vatanen and Corey Perry scored 54 seconds apart in the first period. Perry and Andrew Cogliano each had a goal and an assist during Anaheim’s 42-shot barrage.

Red Wings 5, Islanders 0 — Daniel Alfredsson had two goals and an assist, Darren Helm had two goals and Jimmy Howard made 29 saves as visiting Detroit dominated in earning its first regulation victory against New York since November 2003.

New York came into the game with a 6-0-1 mark against Detroit in its past seven meetings.

Capitals 3, Canadiens 2 — Mikhail Grabovski tied the score with 5:32 left in the third and had the go-ahead goal in a shootout to help host Washington snap a four-game losing streak.

Braden Holtby kicked away attempts by Alex Galchenyuk and Tomas Plekanec, giving Washington a 3-2 edge in the shootout.

Sharks 6, Blues 3 — Brent Burns got his first NHL hat trick and San Jose ended a five-game home losing streak to St. Louis.

Flyers 2, Jets 1 — Scott Hartnell and Sean Couturier scored and Steve Mason stopped all but one shot as Philadelphia won its fifth straight home game, holding off Winnipeg.

Avalanche 3, Wild 1 — Gabriel Landeskog had a goal and two assists, Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 27 saves to set a franchise record with his sixth straight win to start a season, and Colorado held off host Minnesota.
