With Wade out, Heat looking for trade

With Dwyane Wade missing numerous games as he manages knee issues, the Miami Heat have started trade talks looking for backcourt help, multiple league sources told ESPN. Miami has a glut of big men, and center-forward Joel Anthony, who has played in just five games, may be available . . . The Houston Rockets are telling teams they intend to trade disgruntled center Omer Asik by Dec. 19, sources familiar with the team’s plans told ESPN . . . Washington Mystics guard Tayler Hill, the fourth overall pick in the 2013 WNBA draft, is pregnant and will miss at least part of the season . . . Forward Alex Murphy, a redshirt sophomore and ex-Globe All-Scholastic from Wakefield, R.I., who played at St. Mark’s and South Kingstown (R.I.) High School, is transferring from Duke. His father, Jay, played at BC, and his brother, Erik, is a rookie with the Chicago Bulls after a college career at Florida.

Tampa Bay’s Hedman, Aulie sidelined

Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman will miss at least a week with a lower-body injury sustained Thursday against Ottawa. Defenseman Keith Aulie sustained a broken hand which will require surgery and is out indefinitely . . . Predators defenseman Shea Weber practiced for the first time since taking a puck off his face near his right eye Nov. 28. Coach Barry Trotz said Weber may play Saturday at Washington . . . Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller, an unrestricted free agent after the season, said he’s had some talks with president of hockey operations Pat LaFontaine, but termed them exploratory.

Tiger Woods tied his own course record with a 10-under-par 62 for a two-shot lead with an 11-under 133 at the World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Zach Johnson is second . . . Jamie Donaldson’s second-round 66 gave him an 11-under 133 and a three-shot lead over Ryan Moore and Henrik Stenson at the Nedbank Challenge in Sun City, South Africa . . . Stacy Lewis has a two-stroke lead over Pornanong Phatlum in the Dubai Ladies Masters in the United Arab Emirates after her 2-under 70 in the third round put her at 11-under 205 . . . Jbe Kruger shot 4-under 66 for a 7-under 133 total at the Hong Kong Open, putting him one ahead of Stuart Manley after two rounds . . . Jaye Marie Green has a seven-stroke lead over Mi Rim Lee after three rounds of the LPGA qualifying tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla., after a 6-under 66 for a 20-under 196.

Vonn finishes 40th in return to slopes

Maria Hoefl-Riesch won a World Cup downhill in Lake Louise, Alberta, in 1 minute, 56.03 seconds, while Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn was 40th in her first race in 10 months. Vonn, who finished in 1:59.22, will enter Saturday’s downhill and Sunday’s super-G . . . American Joey Mantia got his first World Cup speedskating win, taking the 1,500 meters in 1:45.80 at Berlin . . . Nick Thoman won the 100-yard backstroke in 44.07 seconds, an American record, at the Winter National Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. . . . Sunday’s Dallas Marathon was canceled due to a major winter storm in the area.
