Every Sunday, Boston Globe photographer Stan Grossfeld asks the subject of one of his photos to explain what’s happening in the shot.
Up today: Ti Toa, a native of the Kingdom of Tonga, performs a Polynesian Fire Dance on the beach at the Marco Island (Fla.) Marriott Resort, Dec. 25, 2013.
Toa: “I try not to think about it too much, I just let it flow. This is a sunset celebration. It’s a kind of a warrior dance I do on the beach. Sometimes I get burned. Look at all these scars on my arm. When it’s windy, it’s scary a little bit. But today it is calm. It worked out good today.”
