Bill Belichick unfazed by Deion Branch move

FOXBOROUGH — The idea that former Patriots wide receiver Deion Branch could somehow provide information to his new employers, the Indianapolis Colts, is quite preposterous, according to Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

“I think that’s way overrated,” said Belichick in answering a hypothetical on playing against a former player or with a former player of another team. “And a lot of times the information in those situations is sometimes misinformation because things have changed from whenever that person was [there].

“I’m not saying that in any particular circumstance, I’m just saying in general. A lot of times you, a player has been with another team, saying that this is what they do, this is their call and this is this, this is that. That’s not really what it is.

“Honestly, I think we have enough trouble doing all the things that we do, and getting it right and getting ready to do it well. And I’m sure they have the same thing with the amount of volume you have in your different systems and the amount of volume that you face on the other side of the ball. To be able to not only know everything that you’re doing and then to be able to figure out everything that they’re doing, it’s pretty overrated.”

Branch was signed by the Colts on Monday. He played parts of seven seasons with the Patriots and was MVP of Super Bowl XXXIX.
