Ryan Allen was tackled by Andy Studebaker in the second quarter after a bad snap.

Patriots punter Ryan Allen left for the locker room with a shoulder injury after he was tackled while recovering a botched snap in the second quarter of a playoff game vs. the Colts. The Patriots announced he is questionable to return.

With 2 minutes and 28 seconds remaining in the first half, Patriots long-snapper Danny Aiken launched the football over Allen’s head on fourth down from the Patriots 44.

Allen ran down the ball and recovered it, but as he was swarmed by Colts defenders, he fumbled (perhaps deliberately), and the ball bounced through the end zone for a safety, cutting the Patriots lead to 21-12.

Place-kicker Stephen Gostkowski handled the punting duties in Allen’s place when the Patriots faced a fourth and 6 from their own 40 with 51 seconds left in the half.

Gostkowski boomed a 53-yard punt that Griff Whalen returned to the 16.
