MONTREAL – The Bruins were at a team dinner for Tuukka Rask’s birthday at Sardelli in Hollywood, Fla., when they found out that former teammate Rich Peverley had collapsed at a game between the Stars and Blue Jackets on Monday night.
“I felt sick to my stomach,” Patrice Bergeron said.
“The whole room was pretty shaken,” Chris Kelly said.
“Right away you just want to make sure he’s OK,” Shawn Thornton said. “That’s the initial reaction. You have a terrible feeling in your gut and just hope that he’s OK.”
The Bruins sent scores of text messages to Peverley and Tyler Seguin, who was traded with Peverley to Dallas last summer, just hoping to get some news on the situation, which they had found about on Twitter.
