Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks was back in the lineup Friday for the first time since April 4.
Middlebrooks has been on the disabled list since straining his right calf during warm-ups on April 5.
“Can’t worry about what happened now. Just glad to be playing again,” he said before going 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs in an 8-1 victory over the Blue Jays. “Feels like the start of the season again.”
Middlebrooks was 0 for 10 in a three-game rehabilitation assignment with Triple A Pawtucket. But he singled to the opposite field in his first at-bat Friday to drive in a run and added an RBI double in the sixth.
Middlebrooks was happy to be in Toronto. He is 16 of 47 (.340) with nine extra-base hits, eight RBIs, and 10 runs in 12 career games at Rogers Centre.Peter Abraham can be reached at email@example.com. Follow him on Twitter @PeteAbe.
