Stat of the Day: When leading after seven innings, the Red Sox are 8-0 thanks to a bullpen that’s put up a 3.07 ERA, third best in the American League.

Other notes: John Lackey is 12-7 against the Rays with a 4.39 ERA. He has thrown a pair of complete-game shutouts against them (they are the only AL East team he has shut out), and he has racked up 105 strikeouts against just 39 walks . . . Mike Napoli is riding a career-high 21-game on-base streak, hitting .313 with 10 walks over that stretch . . . Xander Bogaerts’s 10-game hit streak is the longest of his short career and also the longest by a Red Sox player this season. He has hit .324 in those games with four doubles, a home run, five RBIS, and five walks . . . Injuries have done a number on the Rays’ pitching staff, with Matt Moore, Alex Cobb, and Jeremy Hellickson all on the disabled list . . . Erik Bedard, who played for the Red Sox in 2011, hasn’t thrown more than 90 pitches in any of his three outings this season.

Song of the Day: “Git Up, Git Out” by Outkast.
