Notes: The Red Sox have a chance to finish off a sweep of their three-game set with the A’s and move to .500 for the first time since April 4, when they were 2-2 … John Lackey’s 19 wins and 2.90 ERA against the A’s are his best against any team in the majors. Lackey has rung up 16 strikeouts in 16 innings over his last two starts, giving up just three earned runs and one walk … The A’s 24-year-old whiz, Sonny Gray, will make his first career start against the Sox. He is second in the American League in wins (4) and ERA (1.76). Gray’s given up just one home run over his first six starts. ...
