Niagara transfer Antoine Mason, the son of former New York Knick Anthony Mason, committed to Auburn Wednesday after listing Boston College and Providence as the other schools he was interested in visiting.

Evidently, new Auburn coach Bruce Pearl never let Mason get that far in his deliberations.

Mason, a 6-foot-3-inch guard, averaged 25.6 points last season, ranking as the nation’s leading returning scorer.

He was the only player from last year’s 7-26 Niagara team who had a double-figure scoring average.

Mason finished his Niagara career third on the school’s career scoring list with 1,923 points. He was the team’s scoring leader the last two seasons.
