Bruins release preseason schedule

While the Bruins spent last preseason heading to far-flung locations like Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Winnipeg, Manitoba, the team will stay far closer to home this September.

The Bruins’ destinations in the preseason include Montreal, Washington, D.C., Detroit, and a date with the Islanders in Bridgeport, Conn. They will play both of the teams they faced in last year’s postseason, seeing the Canadiens and Red Wings before the season officially starts.

The team kicks off its 2014-2015 preseason with a date against the Canadiens at the Bell Centre on Sept. 23, a rematch of the rivals’ seven-game second-round playoff series, which ended with the Bruins being knocked out of the playoffs. Perhaps it will be a chance for Milan Lucic to get reacquainted with Dale Weise.

The schedule continues with games against the Capitals, at home on Sept. 24 and in Washington on Sept. 26. The Bruins will then travel to face Detroit at Joe Louis Arena on Sept. 27. After a two-day break, the Islanders head to the TD Garden on Sept. 30.

The Bruins then finish up their schedule with a back-to-back starting in Bridgeport at Webster Bank Arena against the Islanders on Oct. 3 and at TD Garden against the Red Wings on Oct. 4.

The regular season schedule is expected to be released on Sunday.
