Sarah Dawson

Division 1: Bridgewater-Raynham

The 6-1 University of Pittsburgh commit went 17-1 with a 0.49 ERA and 155 strikeouts in the regular season, but saved her best efforts for the tournament. In 41 postseason innings, she threw two no-hitters, allowing only one run and striking out 41.

Megan Cook

Division 2: Bellingham

The Merrimack-bound ace led her team to the Division 2 state title with a terrific tourney run that included a no-hitter in the South semifinals. She finished the season with a 0.54 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, 243 strikeouts, and four no-hitters.

Amanda Schell

Division 3: Amesbury

Advertisement

The two-time all-league shortstop converted to catcher to fill a hole for the team. She didn’t miss a beat, compiling a .930 fielding percentage, a .453 batting average, and the CAL Baker Division MVP award. She’ll play field hockey at Ithaca next fall.

All-scholastics

Maddy Barone

Silver Lake, sophomore

The sophomore was the only pitcher to beat the 25-1 Trojans, tossed five straight no-hitters, six overall, and had seven one-hitters. Her 0.07 regular-season ERA led the state, she struck out 190 batters, and she batted .536 with 6 home runs and 31 RBIs.

Bailey Brait

Woodward, senior

Brait has enjoyed success, being an all-league champion since seventh grade. This season the shortstop belted three home runs and had her jersey retired at Woodward. A National Honor Society member, Brait will attend Becker College.

Alexis Brown

Malden, sophomore

A sophomore honor roll student, Brown finished the season with a .614 average, 3 home runs, and 49 RBIs, hitting safely in 19 of 20 games. In the circle, her 188 strikeouts and 1.78 ERA helped her win the Greater Boston League MVP.

Allie Colleran

Concord-Carlisle, senior

The senior shortstop batted .577 with a .609 on-base percentage and added three home runs and 24 RBIs. With her glove, the Dual County League MVP had a .960 fielding percentage. She also captains the ice hockey team and will play softball at Ithaca.

Megan Colleran

North Attleborough, senior

The UMass-bound four-year starter finished her senior season with a .435 batting average, 3 home runs, and 28 RBIs. She struck out 244 batters and had a 0.35 ERA in 161 innings. She finished with 783 career strikeouts.

Julianna Ferguson

Sandwich, senior

The senior shortstop hit .500 with 7 home runs, 30 RBIs, and a 1.669 OPS en route to winning Atlantic Coast League MVP honors. She finishes her career with 29 home runs and 103 RBIs, and will play Division 1 softball at Maine.

Samantha Girard

Dedham, junior

The Bay State Herget MVP batted .500 on the year, led Eastern Mass with 14 home runs, and added 46 RBIs. The junior, a two-time, first-team league all-star, also plays field hockey and ice hockey, is an honor roll student, and is member of student council.

Amanda Gonzalez

Nobles, senior

The Holy Cross-bound senior went 21-0 this spring with a 0.18 ERA to earn ISL MVP honors. Her career record is 48-9 including 447 strikeouts. With the bat she hit .487 with two home runs and 27 RBIs this spring and finishes with a .375 batting average.

Emily Kurkul

Bridgewater-Raynham, junior

The junior slugger is one of the most feared hitters in Massachusetts. Kurkul hit 12 home runs on the season with 55 RBIs. She led the Trojans’ Division 1 state title run and is committed to catch at Merrimack College.

Caitlin McBride

Danvers, junior

The junior catcher’s .679 batting average was the best in the state. She added two home runs and 26 RBIs as the Northeastern Conference MVP. McBride hit for the cycle against Salem, and is an all-league ice hockey player.

Shannon McLaughlin

Tewksbury, senior

Pitched the Redmen to their first North sectional title. The Div. 1 Merrimack Valley Conference MVP went 18-7, tossed five shutouts, and hit .423 with two home runs. She also plays volleyball, but will play softball at St. Anselm.

Paige Mulry

Boston Latin, senior

The senior shortstop shared the Dual County League MVP award thanks to her .521 average, 7 home runs, 21 RBIs, and .926 slugging percentage. She’s also a member of the National Honor Society and will attend Providence College.

Gabby Muniz

Pingree,

The senior infielder finished this season with a .589 batting average, 20 RBIs, 4 home runs, 5 triples, and 13 doubles. She was named co-MVP of the EIL and was Pingree’s team MVP. Muniz will play softball at Holy Cross.

Caroline Ognibene

Winsor, senior

The three-time league all-star and two-year captain hit .658 this season and collected 21 RBIs. She earned an 8-3 record on the mound with a 1.85 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 68 innings. Ognibene also captained the Winsor soccer team.

Jess Proia

Framingham, senior

The Bay State Conference MVP led her team to the North semifinals, striking out 171 batters in just 114 innings during the regular season, clearing 500 strikeouts for her career. The senior also plays volleyball and soccer, and will play softball for Rhode Island.

Halle Silva

Tabor, senior

The senior shortstop was named to the Big East all-tournament team for the third consecutive year and earned her second straight tournament Most Valuable Player award. Silva will attend Northeastern, where she will play ice hockey.

Elizabeth Wade

Montrose, freshman

Wade, the IGC MVP, led her team to an undefeated season and league championship with a .700 batting average and two home runs. She also dominated on the mound, giving up just six hits this season.

Courtney Zambello

Cardinal Spellman, senior

Zambello went 21-2 with a 0.47 ERA and led the state with 329 strikeouts and 163 innings. She finishes her career with 957 strikeouts, 68 wins, and a 1.15 ERA. A former varsity soccer player, she’ll play softball at Merrimack.

Coaches of the Year

Joseph Ciccarello

Division 1: Revere

A former Globe Division 3 Hockey Coach of the Year, Ciccarello’s Patriots finished 20-6, winning the Northeast Conference and the first Division 1 North title in program history. He has 162 career wins in 15 seasons.

Leo ‘‘Doc’’ DiRocco

Division 2: Tewksbury

In 25 seasons at the helm, DiRocco’s teams have won 338 games with a .630 winning percentage. The nine-time Merrimack Valley Conference coach of the year won his first North title playing with six freshman and just two seniors.

Colleen Newbury

Division 3: St. Mary’s

After losing seven seniors following a state championship appearance, her Spartans won the North title, despite a 13-7 regular-season record. She holds a 252-91 record over 14 seasons, including a 51-12 mark in the postseason with two state titles.
