Red Sox postpone July 4 game

Friday’s Red Sox-Orioles game has been rescheduled for Saturday because of weather associated with Tropical Storm Arthur, the team announced Friday morning.

The teams will play a day-night doubleheader Saturday at Fenway. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 1:05 p.m., and the second game will begin at 7:15 p.m.

Lefthander Jon Lester (9-7, 2.92), scheduled to start Friday, will take the mound in the day game Saturday. Righty John Lackey (9-5, 3.62) will start the night contest. The Orioles have not announced their pitching plans.

Tickets for Friday’s game will be good for admission to Saturday’s 1:05 p.m. game.

The Red Sox (38-47) have lost three straight and nine of 13. The Orioles (46-39) have won four in a row and sit atop the AL East.
