Patriots trade cornerback Justin Green to Dallas

FOXBOROUGH — The Patriots have traded cornerback Justin Green to Dallas, according to the Cowboys website.

In exchange for Green, who spent the majority of last season on New England’s practice squad but was active for regular-season games against Denver and Buffalo, the Patriots received defensive tackle Ben Bass.

Bass, listed at 6 feet 5 inches, 294 pounds, made the Cowboys as an undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M in 2012, but missed all of last season because of injury and also has not practiced much this training camp because of a hamstring issue.

Dallas needs help at cornerback after learning Monday night that starter Orlando Scandrick would miss the first four regular-season games because of an NFL suspension.
