Patriots defensive lineman Chandler Jones was named the AFC defensive player of the week, the NFL announced Wednesday.
In a victory over the Vikings on Sunday, Jones had two sacks and also blocked a field goal and returned it for a touchdown. He had eight tackles.
Jones was on the field for 66 plays Sunday, and has been on the field for 97 percent of the snaps while the Patriots have been on defense this year.
Jones was quick to credit the Patriots defense as a whole in a message on Twitter.
Congrats to the @Patriots defense on winning AFC defense of the week!* Humbling honor... Gotta keep it going! #GoPats
