Runners of the Year

Kaley Richards

Division 1: Lowell

Richards cruised to victories in the Merrimack Valley Conference championship (19:02), the EMass Division 1 championship (18:23), and the Division 1 All State meet (18:16). The junior also runs indoor and outdoor track for the Red Raiders and was a fall 2013 and winter 2014 All-Scholastic.

Division 4: Bedford

The three-time All-Scholastic was next-to-impossible to chase down this season, cruising to victories in the EMass Division 5 championship meet (18:25.7) and the Division 2 All State meet (18:19). The senior also runs indoor and outdoor track for the Buccaneers.

Sarah Armstrong, Needham, junior

Armstrong finished fourth at the EMass Division 2 meet (18:29.7) and contributed to the Rockets’ Division 1 All State title with a sixth-place finish (18:45). The junior also set a course record at the Amherst Invitational with a winning time of 17:57.

Emily Bryson, North Quincy, senior

The two-time Patriot League champion and senior captain finished second at the EMass Division 2 meet (18:02.3) and took fourth at the Division 1 All State meet (18:30). Bryson is also a three-time league all-star in indoor and outdoor track.

Sam Coletti, Whitman-Hanson, junior

The Whitman-Hanson junior finished first at this season’s EMass Division 3 meet (18:18.7) to lift her team to a runner-up finish. She finished 16th at the Division 2 All State meet (19:11). Coletti also runs track for the Panthers.

Elizabeth Costantino, Notre Dame (H), senior

The senior finished second at the EMass Division 3 championship (18:28.6) and took eighth place at the Division 1 All State meet (18:53). A four-time Catholic Conference all-star, Costantino also won this season’s Martha’s Vineyard Invitational and took second at the Ocean State Invitational.

Margie Cullen, Needham, junior

The junior finished third at the Division 1 All State meet (18:23) to lead the Rockets to the team title. Cullen also finished third at the EMass Division 2 meet (18:05.6) and was named Bay State Conference MVP after winning the conference championship.

Gina D’Addario, Woburn, senior

The Middlesex League champion broke a 25-year-old record for Woburn’s home course with a time of 17:52. The senior finished fifth at the EMass Division 2 meet (18:40.3) and took 15th at the Division 1 All State meet (19:10).

Emily DeMarco, Ipswich, junior

The junior finished second at this season’s EMass Division 6 meet (18:43.5) and captured third place at the Division 2 All State meet (18:59). DeMarco, who also won the Catholic Memorial Invitational (19:27), runs indoor and outdoor track for the Tigers.

Coralea Geraniotis, Nauset, senior

The senior captain lifted her team to the EMass Division 4 title with a first-place finish of 18:53.6. She followed her divisional win with a fifth-place finish at the Division 2 All State meet (19:03). Geraniotis also runs track for the Warriors.

Rebecca Grusby, Newton South, junior

Grusby, a junior, finished second at this season’s EMass Division 1 meet (18:29) and took fifth at the Division 1 All State meet (18:39). She went undefeated in DCL competition this season and won the Jim Hoar race at the Bay State Invitational.

Ariel Keklak, Lincoln-Sudbury, junior

The junior won the EMass Division 2 championship meet (17:48.4) and took second in the Division 1 All State meet (18:18) to propel the Warriors to a third-place team finish. The 2014 Dual County League champion also runs indoor and outdoor track.

Olivia Lantz, Manchester Essex, senior

The Cape Ann League champion won the EMass Division 6 meet (18:05.9) and finished second at the Division 2 All State meet (18:43) this season. Lantz, a senior who also runs indoor and outdoor track, has verbally committed to Dartmouth College.

Allie Morris, Walpole, senior

The senior captain finished fourth at the Division 3 EMass meet (18:39.2) and took seventh at the Division 1 All State meet (18:49). Morris also won the Steve Sawyer race at the Bay State Invitational (18:54). She will attend UMass-Lowell next fall.

Coaches of the Year

Stephen George

Division 2: Whitman-Hanson

George led the Panthers to a 7-0 season and the Patriot League title. In his seven years at Whitman-Hanson, the Panthers have lost just one dual meet. W-H also did well in the All-State meet, finishing sixth. He also coaches track.

Jack Dempsey

Division 3: Arlington Catholic

In his ninth year coaching cross-country, Dempsey led AC to an 8-0 mark in the Catholic Central League. It was the sixth straight undefeated season for the Cougars, giving them a 46-meet win streak. Dempsey also coaches softball and indoor track at Medford.
