2015 Preps All-Scholastics

EIL

Jesse Braith, Bancroft, baseball

Braith finished his junior season with 23 RBIs and a .487 batting average. He also had a five-game home run streak and finished with nine. In his free time, Braith works with developmentally disabled youth.

Cole Burbage, Landmark, track

In the EIL championship, Burbage placed first in the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. He also finished second in the high jump and ran on the first place 4 x 400 relay team to earn MVP honors. He’ll attend Northfield Mt. Herman.

Kayla Camacho, Winsor, track

Camacho placed first in the 100-, 200-, and 400-meter races at the SENE/EIL combined O’Dell Championships, while also leading her team to victory. The varsity tri-captain will attend Swarthmore College in the fall.

Samantha Gibson, Lexington Christian, softball

The three sport-athlete batted .571 this spring, with 18 extra base hits and 27 runs batted in. Gibson also pitched 89 innings, finishing with an 11-2 record and 142 strikeouts. She is also an honor-roll student.

Gabriela Marks, Beaver Country Day, tennis

Marks was undefeated in the EIL regular season for four consecutive seasons, while capturing the EIL MVP each year. In her career, she didn’t lose a set in EIL matches. She will play tennis for George Mason.

Raimundo Riojas, Portsmouth Abbey, tennis

As a sophomore, Riojas led Portsmouth Abbey to its first EIL championship with a 6-0 record. The native of Guatemala was undefeated in singles play (6-0) and was selected as team captain for the 2016 season.

Sophia Sgroi, Newton Country Day, lacrosse

Sgroi, the Globe’s NEPSAC Female Athlete of the Year, tallied 62 goals and 24 assists. She was selected as an EIL All-Star for the fourth straight year. Sgroi ends her career with 210 goals and 62 assists. She’ll play lacrosse at Davidson.

Maxx Trotsky, Pingree, lacrosse

Trotsky, a three-sport athlete, helped lead the Highlanders to their first New England Small School championship since 2009. He led the team in scoring for the third straight year, finishing with 50 goals and 26 assists.

ISL

Jordan Allen, Thayer, track

Allen had a strong outing at the ISL championship. He won the 200-meter dash in 21.68 to set a meet record and captured the meet MVP. He was also a part of the record-setting 4x100 relay team. He’ll attend Fordham.

Courtney Cashman, Governor’s Academy, softball

Cashman finished her junior year batting .615 and captured the ISL MVP award. She also won the ISL All-League award for the third consecutive year. The three-sport athlete is also a high honor roll student.

Tess D’Orsi, St. Mark’s, lacrosse

A junior, D’Orsi won team and league MVP honors, while also being selected to the under-19 national team. A midfielder, she was an All-ISL selection for a third season. The honor-roll student was captain of the soccer team.

Maddie Dewire, Milton Academy, tennis

Dewire helped the Mustangs capture the ISL and New England team championships. This is the third consecutive year the team won the ISL title. She was also voted team and ISL MVP for the second time in her career.

Emma Fitzgerald, Thayer, track

Fitzgerald won the ISL MVP award after breaking the school, league, state, and all-region record in the javelin throw. Just a junior, she also holds the ISL and New England Prep School record in high jump.

Joey Haig, Roxbury Latin, tennis

Haig led the Foxes to an undefeated ISL record (15-0) while capturing his fifth ISL championship. The fifth-year varsity player went to three New England finals, winning it all in 2013. He’ll attend Dartmouth.

John Lazor, Belmont Hill, golf

Lazor is a three-time ISL All-League player. He finished with a 11-1-4 ISL match-play record. In April, Lazor was a medalist with a one-under 70 at Watertown Golf Country Club. He will play golf at Dartmouth in the fall.

Sean Lowrie, Roxbury Latin, lacrosse

Lowrie ends his career as the school’s all-time points leader. The All-American athlete was ISL MVP while scoring 72 points. The three-time All-League player will attend Duke.

Cole O’Connor, BB&N, baseball

The Globe’s NEPSAC Male Athlete of the Year, O’Connor led the Knights to an ISL title. He pitched 48 innings and finished with a 6-1 record with a 1.75 ERA. He earned ISL co-MVP honors. He will attend Dartmouth.

Lucas Ribeiro, Belmont Hill, track

Ribeiro is a two-time ISL MVP and All-Scholastic. He’s also a national champion in the discus. He also placed first at the Division 2 New England Prep School meet for the second year in a row in the shot put and discus.

Ben Wanger, Belmont Hill, baseball

Wanger is a three-year varsity player and captain at Belmont Hill. He pitched the school’s first perfect game, and led the ISL in earned run average (0.73) and struck out 52 in 48 innings. Wanger will play baseball at Yale.

Samantha Yates, St. Paul’s, track

Yates had dominated at the ISTA championships, placing first in the 800-, 1500-, and 3000-meter runs on her way to being named meet MVP. She holds school records in the same events and will attend Washington and Lee.

NEPSAC

Jayme Callum, Gann Academy, softball

Just a sophomore, Callum hit seven home runs and batted .605 with a slugging percentage of 1.279. She won the IGC MVP and was selected to the All-Star team. Callum was also a NEPSAC All-Star in Volleyball.

Alexandra Elovic, Gann Academy, tennis

Elovic capped her career at Gann with only two losses, just one her senior year. The team captain is a two-time All-Scholastic and two-time league MVP who played No. 1 singles her entire career. She will attend Northeastern.

Sam Hoenig, Cambridge Weston, tennis

Hoenig was undefeated (13-0) at No. 1 singles this year, while leading his team to an MBIL championship. He was team and MBIL MVP and ranked in the top 15 in Massachusetts. Also an alpine skier, he will attend Colby.

Keenan Iuliano, Brimmer & May, baseball

Iuliano led the Gators to their second consecutive MBIL title. The two-time league MVP went 5-0 with 47 strikeouts and a 0.65 ERA. He also batted .632 and had 21 RBIs. He was elected team MVP for the third straight year.

Nat Lyman, Waring, lacrosse

As the MBIL MVP, Lyman finished his senior year with 45 goals and 20 assists. The team captain was a two-time MBIL All-Star and finished his career with 100 goals. He also played soccer and was an MBIL All-Star. He’ll attend Vassar.

Adele MacEwen, Waring, lacrosse

MacEwen scored 36 goals and added nine assists to lead Waring to an impressive 14-0-1 record. A midfielder, she was selected a New England Prep All-Star and was named a US Lacrosse Academic All-American.

Ravenne Nasser, Phillips Andover, softball

Nasser led Phillips Andover to an 18-0 season. She went 9-0 with a 0.13 earned run average, while batting .562 with 10 home runs. Nasser owns the school home run and earned run average season records. She’ll attend MIT.
