2015 Girls’ Cross Country All-Scholastics

Runners of the Year

Division 1: Ariel Keklak, Lincoln-Sudbury

The senior was the individual All-State Division 1 champ (17:25.15), the Dual County League champ (18:16), and finished second in the EMass Division 2 meet (17:34.41). She was seventh at the Northeast Regional (17:52.7).

Division 2: Sarah Edwards, Bellingham

The senior won the individual All-State Div. 2 title (18:12.58), the individual EMass Div. 5 championship (18:42.22), and was named the Tri-Valley League MVP. Edwards finished 29th in the Foot Locker Northeast Regional.

All-Scholastics

Sarah Armstrong, Needham, senior

The Bay State League All-Star finished fourth at the EMass Division 2 meet (18:07.21) and 11th at the All-State Division 1 championships (18:25.14). She finished second at the Bay State League championships (17:32).

Grace Connolly, Natick, freshman

Connolly was fifth at the EMass Division 2 meet (18:13.85) and seventh at the All-State Division 1 meet (18:01.89). She won the MSTCA Coaches Invitational (18:15.80) and was fourth at the Bay State Conference meet.

Margie Cullen, Needham, senior

Cullen won the individual EMass Division 2 title (17:30.37) and finished third at the All-State Division 1 meet (17:33.77). She also won the Bay State Invitational (17:45.90) and the Bay State Conference championship (17:26).

Julia Curtin, Beverly, sophomore

Curtin was undefeated in the regular season, including wins at the Frank Kelley Invitational (17:43.55) and the Northeastern Conference meet (18:25). She was third at the EMass Division 2 meet and runner up at All-States.

Rebecca Grusby, Newton South, senior

Grusby led her team to the EMass Division 1 championship with a second-place finish (18:25.54) and to a third-place finish at the All-State Division 1 meet, where she was fifth. She was second at the Frank Kelley Invitational.

Abigail Long, Bishop Feehan, junior

Long won the EMass Division 3 championship in 18:23.38 and was sixth at the All-State Division 1 meet (17:49.80). She was second at the Bay State Invitational (17:52.69) and qualified for the Nike Cross-Country Nationals.

Clare Martin, Newton South, junior

Martin won the individual EMass Div. 1 championship and the Bay State Invitational, and was fourth at the All-State Div. 1 championships. This summer, Martin will compete in the Junior Olympics and the Bay State Games.

Bridget Mitchell, Milton, sophomore

The Bay State Conference All-Star was third at both the All-State Div. 2 and the EMass Div. 4 championships (18:52). She finished second in the Twilight Invitational and third in the Bay State Conference championships.

Colette O'Leary, Milton, junior

O'Leary won the individual EMass Div. 4 championship (18:46) and was fourth at the All-State Div. 2 meet (18:24). O'Leary was third at the Twilight Invitational (18:09) and fourth at the Bay State Conference championships (18:17).

Kaley Richards, Lowell, senior

Richards helped her team qualify for the All-State Division 1 championship with a third-place finish at the EMass Div. 1 championships (18:45). At the All-State meet, she was 12th. Richards will run at UMass-Lowell next year.

Sarah Tully, Wayland, junior

Tully finished fifth in the All-State Div. 2 championships (18:27), second in the EMass Division 4 meet (18:49.29), and fourth in the Dual County League championships (19:03). She also competes in outdoor track and Nordic skiing.

Abby Walsh, Beverly, junior

Walsh was sixth at the Div. 2 meet (18:38) and ninth at All-States (18:24). She finished second at the Bay State Invitational (18:48), fourth at the Frank Kelley Invitational (19:17.14), and third at the Northeastern Conference meet.

Coaches of the Year

Division 1: Cullen Hagan, Billerica

The Indians went 9-1 and were co-champions in the Merrimack Valley Conference, third in Division 2 at the EMass meet, and sixth at the All-State Division 1 meet. Cullen was also named the MVC Coach of the Year.

Division 2: Thomas Shaw, Milton

Led by two All-Scholastic runners and an experienced coach, the Wildcats won the Division 2 state championship. Shaw has been coaching for 12 years, including indoor and outdoor track at Ursuline.
