Comment: He’s now the heavy favorite to claim the trophy. All four of his touchdowns in Saturday’s win over Texas Tech came in the second half.

Oregon RB

104 yards on nine carries, 2 TDs.

Season: 974 yards rushing, 6.9 yards per carry, 15 total TDs.

Comment: Averaged 13.6 yards on 11 touches Saturday in a thrashing of Colorado. He’s scored multiple touchdowns in five of eight games this season.

Manti Te’o

Notre Dame LB

This week:

Interception, sack, 11 tackles (six solo, two for loss).

Season: 80 tackles (39 solo), 5 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries.

Comment: His interception came in the fourth quarter with the Sooners across midfield and trailing by just 7.

Braxton Miller

Ohio State QB

This week:

143 yards passing, 134 yards rushing, 3 total TDs.

Season: 1,527 yards passing with 12 TDs, 1,093 yards rushing with 12 TDs.

Comment: Miller played big against Penn State a week after suffering a head injury against Purdue.
