Tyreek Duren hit a jump shot with two seconds left to boost La Salle over Northeastern, 66-64, Saturday night in a nonconference contest at Matthews Arena.
The Explorers (6-1) led, 64-60, with just under three minutes left, but Zach Stahl hit two free throws and Quincy Ford hit a jumper for Northeastern (4-5) to tie it at 64 with 1:19 left.
Duren missed a jumper with 56 seconds left but Northeastern couldn’t take advantage as David Walker turned it over with 39 seconds to go.
Neither team got off a shot until Duren connected for the winner that secured the Explorers’ fifth straight win.
Reggie Spencer scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Huskies, who have lost four straight.
Stahl, a freshman guard, came off the bench to finish with 12 points, 1 point off his season high.
Joel Smith, Northeastern’s leading scorer at 17 points per game, was held to 11 by the Explorers.
La Salle, which hit 16 3-pointers in a win over Penn State on Wednesday, hit 7 of 18 against NU, led by Ramon Galloway’s 4-for-9 performance.
Duren, who scored a career-high 29 points in the Penn State win, had 12 against Northeastern.
The Huskies are off for 10 days before playing North Carolina Asheville at Matthews Arena Dec. 18.
