BU women hang on to defeat BC

Katie Nelson scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Boston University women’s basketball team to a 61-57 victory over Boston College on Sunday at Case Gym.

Naiyah Thompson had 11 points and 10 rebounds for BU (3-2), which held on despite yielding nearly all of a 19-point lead in the final four minutes. The Terriers snapped a four-game losing streak against BC dating to 2013.

Sydney Lowery scored 18 points and Emma Guy added 10 for BC (3-3).


Holy Cross 59, Bryant 57 — Lauren Manis collected 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 steals to lead the Crusaders (3-2) past the Bulldogs (0-5) in overtime in Worcester.

Infiniti Thomas-Waheed scored 15 points and Tricia Byrne added 12 for Holy Cross.

Sydney Holloway had 24 points and 13 rebounds for Bryant.


BU 83, Wheaton 48 — Andrew Petcash had 15 points to lead a balanced scoring attack, and the Terriers (2-3) routed the Division 3 Lyons (3-2) at Case Gym.

Sukhmail Mathon had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Javante McCoy added 12 points for BU.


David Carbonello’s 11 points led Wheaton.

UMass Lowell 83, Loyola (Md.) 75 — Matt Harris scored 19 points and Jahad Thomas added 17 to lead the River Hawks (5-1) to a comeback victory over the Greyhounds (1-4) in Lowell.

Ryan Jones chipped in 13 points and Rinardo Perry had 10 for UMass Lowell.

Cam Gregory scored 18 points and Andre Walker 17 for Loyola.
