Roundup: Boston’s best begin chase for a title

The Boston City League soccer tournament starts Monday, weather permitting, with the girls at Madison Park and the boys at White Stadium. In the boys’ semifinals, East Boston, which finished second in the regular season, will face third-place Brighton at 6 p.m. The Jets are 9-2-1 while the Bengals are 11-2.

Despite being slotted behind Eastie, a Brighton win wouldn’t be an upset. The two played last week with Brighton winning, 5-0. East Boston coach Lorenzo Di Benedetto said that many key players for that earlier game were missing and he expects his team to be at full strength for the playoffs.
