Football roundup: Walpole passes Wellesley in fourth

Walpole was backed against a wall entering the fourth quarter Saturday at Wellesley.

The 12th-ranked Rebels (3-1) trailed, 28-27, when they reeled off 22 points in the fourth, thanks to two touchdown passes by Will Bolster to propel Walpole to a 49-35 win.

Bolster found Jack Lavenchy for a 27-yard score on the first play of the fourth to put the Rebels up, 35-28.

Bolster then found Colton Mitchell for a 22-yard score and Steve Cuqua added insurance on an 11-yard touchdown to build a 49-28 lead with 3:19 to go.

The Raiders (1-3) didn’t go away easily. Myles Coles hauled in a 62-yard touchdown from John Fadule to cut the deficit to 14. Wellesley recovered the ensuing onside kick to make it a one-possession game.

But Myles Cofield ended the heroics when he picked off a pass to secure the win.

Bolster finished 15 for 20 for 260 yards and three touchdowns.
