All eight MIAA Super Bowls will now be played at Gillette Stadium.
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Association announced Thursday that championship games for Divisions 1-8 will be played on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2 in Foxborough.
Gillette was scheduled to host six title games on Dec. 2. But the Patriots have now offered to host two additional games on Dec. 1.
“We are pumped,” said Richard Pearson, the MIAA’s associate director. “This is great news for the kids and the schools. We’re very appreciative of Kraft Productions to make Gillette Stadium available for two more games at this exciting time.
“This opportunity presents a tremendous platform to showcase all eight state championship contests.”
A year ago, the Division 1 and 8 games were held off site. This year, the Division 2 and 7 games were slated for other sites.
Said Patriots chairman and CEO Robert Kraft, “We love hosting the high school championship games here at Gillette Stadium and are excited to be able to accommodate all eight games this year.
“While the all-day event on Saturday has become an annual tradition, we are proud to host a ‘Friday Night Lights’ edition for the remaining two championship games at Gillette Stadium. We are sure that experience will provide the teams’ coaches, players, and respective communities memories that will last a lifetime.”
Tickets go on sale Nov. 21 via Ticketmaster, and will be available on game day at the Gillette Stadium box office starting at 8 a.m.
