Parents to help find school administrators

Braintree Public Schools are looking for parents to help find candidates for the distict’s assistant superintendent and the Flaherty Elementary School principal. Superintendent Peter Kurzberg is planning to retire this summer and will be replaced by assistant Superintendent Maureen Murray, which will leave her position open. The Flaherty principal, Mary Struzziero, is planning to retire in July. “We always have parent representatives serving on our search committee for administrators, because they are an important constituency in terms of who the principal or assistant superintendent would work with,” said Kurzberg. Members of the central administration – including Kurzberg and Murray – will be on both committees, along with teachers. Two School Committee members will help in the assistant superintendent search. Kurzberg said he hopes the process will be completed by the start of May. Anyone interested in serving on the committees should call the superintendent’s office at 781-380-0130, ext. 100, by March 15.
