Campaigns’ secret weapon: pizza

It's not just Domino's and other chains that are profiting from campaigns' love affair with pizza. Many Massachusetts candidates have long bought their pies from neighborhood institutions over the years, such as MJ's Sub and Pizza in Roslindale (now closed) and Primo's Pizza on Beacon Hill (still going), campaign finance reports show. Overall, campaigns reported spending almost $400,000 explicitly for pizza or at restaurants with pizza in their name since 2002. And that's a very conservative figure because many pizza purchases are hidden under more generic names like food, lunch, or refreshments.
