Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton react to Orlando shooting

The presumptive party nominees for president each weighed in on the deadly shooting in Orlando, Fla., on Sunday.

Hillary Clinton said on Twitter that her thoughts were with those affected by the shooting, which killed about 20 people and left more than 40 wounded.

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump also weighed in on Twitter, calling the incident “really bad” and linking it to terrorism. Trump later said that he appeciated the congratulations he was receiving about “being right on radical Islamic terrorism,” but he instead wanted toughness and vigilance.

President Obama was briefed on the attack Sunday morning, according to a statement from the White House.

“The President asked to receive regular updates as the FBI, and other federal officials, work with the Orlando Police to gather more information, and directed that the federal government provide any assistance necessary to pursue the investigation and support the community,” the statement said.
