Late-night staple Jay Leno has been making the rounds in his native New England.

The former NBC “Tonight Show” host, who grew up in Andover, swung by Guy Fieri’s Foxwoods Kitchen and Bar in Connecticut on Friday afternoon, savoring a juicy steak before his show that evening at the nearby Grand Theater.

And the next night, he helped Medford’s Chevalier Theater celebrate its two-year anniversary with Milton-bred promoter Bill Blumenreich, whose Presents company has landed entertainers as big as Patton Oswalt and Joe Biden since taking over exclusive booking and managing duties for the historic venue.

Saturday at the Chevalier, Leno performed to a sold-out crowd of 1,800, many of whom were surely familiar with Leno’s local ties. The veteran entertainer cut his teeth in Boston comedy clubs and graduated from Emerson College, earning a name for himself on the stand-up circuit before being named the host of “The Tonight Show” in 1992.
