Live updates: Large police presence in Boston, but few protesters Monday night

At 5 p.m. Monday, a convoy of police vehicles, many from suburbs of the city, made its way down Beacon Street. At the bottom of the hill they turned onto Boston Common, where they took up positions in anticipation of any trouble Monday night in the city.

Demonstrations were planned for Boston on Monday, as protests continued after a largely peaceful demonstration of thousands on Sunday night turned ugly after the sun set.

However, while a police presence was ramped up in downtown Boston, there were few protesters to be seen.
