Music to his ears (but not to hers)

I share Ty Burr’s love of “Music for 18 Musicians” by Steve Reich (”This minimalist composition is ‘a shimmering latticework on which to hang your thoughts,’ ” Comfort Zone, June 22). I have listened to it more than 1,000 times at least. It is the piece I listen to when I just need that texture in my world.

But my wife calls it “mass murder music.” I can’t play it when she’s around.
