Boston officials delayed the next phase of in-person learning Wednesday as the city’s coronavirus positivity rate hit 4.1 percent.

Students who already returned to in-person school will be able to continue attending. All families can also opt-out of in-person instruction and keep their children home for remote learning.

Students in Grades K0, K1, and K2 were expected to begin attending in-person classes on Oct. 15, a date that Boston Public Schools have pushed back at least one week. Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh said they will continue reevaluating coronavirus data to determine when it is safe for each student cohort to begin in-person school.
