EMass boys’ basketball: Cathedral’s Kamari James headlines Players of the Week

Top performances from EMass. basketball players in the past week:

Kamari James, Cathedral — The sophomore point guard has reached double figures in all four games this season, and averaged 16 points per game this week in a pair of Catholic Central wins over Austin Prep and Cardinal Spellman.

Jake Lemelin, Newton South — In his first varsity game, the freshman matched junior Itai Alinsky with a team-high 20 points, connecting on all six of his 3-point attempts in a 66-39 Dual County League win over Concord-Carlisle.

Julian Llopiz, Plymouth North — The senior guard poured in 31 points to pace the host Eagles (2-0) to a 60-57 Patriot League win over Hingham Tuesday night.


Jacob Robertson, Newburyport — A returning Cape Ann League All-Star, Robertson began his senior campaign with 28 points on five 3-pointers in the Clippers’ 64-54 home win over Ipswich Tuesday night.

Declan Walmsley, Franklin — The Panthers graduated all five starters from last season’s Division 1 state semifinalist team but return sixth-man Walmsley, who netted a game-high 18 points in Franklin’s 62-52 season-opening win over Hockomock League foe Milford.
