Were you a fan of Quibi, which launched in the spring and shut down in the fall? The failed streamer, which featured short series and movies for mobile viewing only, has sold the rights to most of its programming to Roku. Both previously premiered and new Quibi titles, on which the company spent more than a billion dollars, will be exclusively available, with ads, on the Roku Channel.
The list of scripted and reality series is long, and its stars include Idris Elba, Kevin Hart, Will Forte, Sophie Turner, Liam Hemsworth, Anna Kendrick, Nicole Richie, Chrissy Teigen and Lena Waithe. Among the still-unseen titles to premiere on Roku are “The Now,” a suicide-themed comedy from Peter Farrelly, and “Spielberg’s After Dark,” a horror series from Steven Spielberg.
