Newton to honor Martin Luther King Day with virtual celebration

“Keep Moving Forward” is the theme of Newton’s 53rd Annual Martin Luther King Day Community Celebration, which takes place virtually on Monday, Jan. 18, at 9:30 a.m.

The online event include musical selections, reflections, and sermons led by Newton Interfaith Clergy Association’s Reverend Devlin Scott and Rabbi Allison Berry. The celebration will include a live roundtable discussion with local social justice leaders, a student voices video from Newton Public Schools, and a spotlight feature on Myrtle Baptist Church.

The free event is being hosted by the Foundation for Racial, Ethnic, and Religious Harmony (The Harmony Foundation) together with the Mayor’s Office and the Newton Interfaith Clergy Association. Registration is now open at bit.ly/mlknewton2021.
